How to Install Windows 8.1 from USB Flash Drive (Pen drive/ Memory card etc.) or External Hard Drive (Beginners) (with Pictures & video).


Before starting the installation we should make sure that the computer meets all the Hardware requirements for installing Windows 8.1:

Minimum Hardware requirements to install windows 8.1:

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster.
RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit).
Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit).
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver.

Different versions in Windows 8.1:

1. Basic Edition - Windows 8.1 Basic Edition (or just Windows 8.1) is intended for home users.
2. Pro - Windows 8.1 Pro is the operating system intended for small and medium-sized businesses.
3. Enterprise - Windows 8.1 Enterprise is the version that brings business premium features to Windows.



Following are the step by step instruction to install windows 7 from USB Flash Drive (Pen drive/ Memory card etc.) or External Hard Drive:

First - Plug to usb port a 4GB or larger USB Flash Drive (Pen drive/ Memory card etc.) or External Hard Drive to a computer. Follow the Step-1, Step-2, Step-3 to make your USB Flash Drive (Pen drive/ Memory card etc.) or External Hard Drive bootable.

If you have windows file as a ISO format, then download "Windows USB/DVD Download Tool" software & make your USB Flash Drive (Pen drive/ Memory card etc.) or External Hard Drive bootable. Click to this link for download  http://wudt.codeplex.com/.
 
Second - Enter your computer's BIOS to setup boot from USB Flash Drive (Pen drive/ Memory card etc.) (Step-4, Step-5, Step-6). 
 
Third - Star Windows installation from Step-7.

Step-1: Plug to usb port a 4GB or larger USB Flash Drive (Pen drive/ Memory card etc.) or External Hard Drive to a computer. Click to start icon. Write cmd in search bar. When cmd.exe file show, click mouse right button after put the mouse arrow on it. Click to Run as administrator. If appear User Account Control,  click Yes. It will open a Administrator:  Command Prompt (See screenshot below).



Step-2: Now start writing following command respectively:

1. Type "diskpart" & hit enter.
2.Type "list disk" & hit enter. (It will show Disk 0 for hard drive and Disk 1 for your USB flashdrive).
3. Type "select disk 1" (Make sure your pc Disk 1 is your USB flashdrive (follow the size of disk), if the else give disk name) & hit enter.
4. Type "clean" & hit enter.
5. Type "create partition primary" & hit enter.
6.Type "select partition 1" & hit enter.
7. Type "active" & hit enter.
8. Type "format fs=ntfs quick" & hit enter.
9. When format complete 100%, type "exit" & hit enter.
 
Now close the Administrator:  Command Prompt window (See screenshot below).



Step-3: Now copy the all Windows 8.1 file. Click mouse write button on your USB flash drive & click to Paste

Step-4: Turn off the computer that you want to install Windows on then turn it back on. When the BIOS screen appears or you are prompted to do so, press Del, Esc, F2, F10, or F9 (depending on your computer’s motherboard) to enter the system BIOS. The key to enter the BIOS is usually shown on the screen.



Step-5: Find your BIOS's boot options menu. Select the Removable Devices as the first boot device of your computer. (See screenshot below).




Step-6: Save the changes of the settings. Press the button indicated on the screen or select the save option from the BIOS menu to save your configuration. (See screenshot below).




Step-7: Restart your computer. Press enter on Windows setup [EMS Enabled]. It will start loading the operating system from the usb flash drive. (screenshot below).



Step-8: Once Windows Setup loads, you'll be presented with a window. Select your preferred language, keyboard type, and time/currency format, then click Next. (screenshot below).
 


Step-9: Click the Install Now button. (screenshot below).


Step-10: Input the Windows 8 product key (In some DVD no need product key). (screenshot below).


Step-11: Accept the License Terms. Read over the Microsoft Software License Terms, check I accept the license terms, and click Next. (screenshot below).




Step-12: Select the Custom (Advanced) installation. (screenshot below).




Step-13: Format the Prtition1: System Reserved & Prtition2 (or which drive you want to install windows) from drive options (advanced). Select Prtition2 (or which drive you want to install windows) & click to Next (screenshot below).




Step-14: Windows will start the installation. Now the installation status screen appears. You will have to wait for the following tasks to get complete (screenshot below).


Step-15: After successful installation of Windows  it will restart several time & ask you to specify the ‘computer name’ & you'll be prompted to choose a color scheme. Click ‘Next’. (screenshot below). 


Step-16: You can choose use express settings. You can change any or all of these setting later if I want. (screenshot below).


Step-17: On the next screen, you'll choose how you want to sign on to Windows 8, as shown in Figure Q. While you can choose to sign in with a local account, I would recommend that you use an existing Microsoft (email) account, such as a Hotmail.com or a Live.com account. If you don't have a Microsoft account, you can sign up for one or you can use any email address that you want and Windows 8 will create an account for you. Click to Next (screenshot below).


Step-18: As you may know, Windows 8 comes with a host of native apps for the Start screen interface that replace and add to the group of applications that used to come with previous versions of Windows. Once the apps are installed, you'll see the Start screen (screenshot below).
